Katie Reed teaches Algebra 2, geometry and SAILS math and is also certified to teach ELA in grades 7 - 12.  She graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Arts degree in the Program of Liberal Studies (minor in German) and from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a Masters of Education in Secondary Education. She has served as the secretary of the Chattanooga Area Mathematics Teachers’ Association.  Katie is especially interested in curriculum development, growth mindset and mathematical mindsets and differentiation.

Katie believes that every child can learn, “and every child deserves equal access to the best education.”  She strives to share her passion as a life-long learner with students to help open up a world of opportunities for their future.

The positive things she heard about Ivy Academy drew Katie to apply at the school: the students and community, the faculty and staff, the opportunities for environmental stewardship, the positive atmosphere, and the expansion of the school into the new building and new partnerships and academic offerings.

A Chattanooga native, Katie is from a large family and enjoys spending time with her husband and three sons and their extended families.  In her spare time, she likes reading, forensics, binge watching Netflix series, games and puzzles. Outdoors, Katie enjoys hiking, biking and swimming
