Student Service Days
During Service Days, Ivy students give back to their communities, through community service and the experience of volunteerism. Ivy Academy’s motto is “We are scholars, we are stewards, and we are volunteers.” Ivy Student Service Days combine exploring our community through observation (scholars), beginning a lifelong practice of making the world around us a better place (stewards), and donating time to help meet a need in our community (volunteers). Community service gives students a sense of accomplishment, boosts self-confidence and worth, fosters connections with people outside their “bubble,” improves social skills, enhances job skills, and adds to resumes for college admissions and careers.
Community Service
Community service is any unpaid work that helps others. In-school activities, service to the school, or students’ regular chores around the house do not count toward Service Day hours. Ivy Academy will provide suggestions for service opportunities in the community and at home (for those without daytime transportation). We encourage students to branch out into unfamiliar territory and connect with their community.
